Rona Arato

Rona Arato was born in New York and raised in Los Angeles. From an early age, she decided that she wanted to write children's books, and went on to complete University to become an elementary school teacher. Arato briefly travelled through Isreal and Europe, and upon returning to Los Angeles she met her husband, after which they soon relocated to Toronto. After the births of her three children Arato began writing professionally, and has since found a focus in both fiction and non-fiction children's books. She always had a passion for history, and this is evident in her books, which provide a great deal of education to a younger audience. Her non-fiction work Courage and Compassion: Ten Canadians Who Made a Difference was the 2011 Golden Oak Winner, and the 2010 Silver Birch Finalist.
