19th Century Girls and Women

Through colourful illustrations and informative text, this children's book depicts the lives of girls and women living in the grand style of the 19th century. The positive and the negative aspects of the upper and the lower classes is examined through the education, jobs and marriage of these women, including facts on Elizabeth Blackwell, Emily Stowe, Susan La Flesche, and Mary Ann Shadd.
