Gates Gully (Bellamy Ravine)

Gates Gully runs from the flats of Scarborough Bluffs down to Lake Ontario's edge. Steeped with dramatic history - from 10,000 year old aboriginal artifacts to hidden soldiers' treasures to the rescue of sailers from the Alexandria when it ran aground in 1915 - the gully is one of the few places that allows access to both the top of the bluffs and the lakeshore. At the top once stood Gates Inn, a famous stop for local militia and travelers. At the bottom is the Passage sculpture from a local artist. Now known as Bellamy Ravine, a trail (named after Doris McCarthy) allows hikers to make the journey down the gully to the lake.
