Kew Gardens (The Beach)

Kew Gardens is a large park in The Beach neighborhood of Toronto. Once a private garden owned by Joseph Williams in the 1850's, it was developed by Williams into a public tourist destination, with several recreational facilities and easy access via streecar. The park was purchased by the city in 1907 and turned into a popular municipal park, and developed into a historic part of Toronto's waterfront. The original Williams house remains in the park as the caretaker's home.
