Occupying a full city block and facing Lake Ontario, Kingston's city hall is a prominent landmark constructed in the neoclassical style. The city hall was completed in 1844, with its scale and design reflective of Kingston's status as capital of Ontario at that time. In 1961, the building was designated a National Historic Site of Canada.
