A large expanse spanning between Waterloo and Lake Huron, The Queen's Bush Settlement was at one time crown land named for its considerable forest cover. Many former slaves and their families settled on the land, building homes and schools and churches. However, when the land became available for purchase, Crown prices were set high, so many had to leave. An influx of other families settled and pioneered tracts of land. Today, the area is divided into two counties: Bruce and Grey; the countryside spotted with historic barns, and farmsteads. The plaque can be found in the Mapletown township, at Glen Allan Park.
