Queen's Park - Toronto

Queen's Park is an urban park in downtown Toronto, and home to the Ontario Legislative Building. Opened in 1860, it was named after Queen Victoria. Technically owned by the University of Toronto - which occupies most of the surrounding landscape - the park was leased to the Government of Ontario in 1859 for a period of 999 years.

It features several statues, of famous Canadians such as John A. MacDonald and John Graves Simcoe, monuments as well as some of the city's largest and oldest trees. Referenced inTerry Murray's Faces on Places, the statues and sculptures found around the park carry a long history of mythology and cultural relevance.
