Rosedale is an affluent neighbourhood of Toronto known for its "old money". Originally the estate of William Botsford Jarvis, it was named after the abundance of wild roses that grew on the hillsides. The area has three ravines preserved as parklands and is heavily forested; a refuge from the usual sights and sounds of busy Toronto life.
