Tower of Freedom: Underground Railway Monument

Directly across the river from its Detroit counterpart, the Tower of Freedom monument marks the passage of fugitive slaves across the Detroit River into Windsor. The Detroit monument - The Gateway to Freedom - depicts six fugitive slaves awaiting transport. In Windsor, the monument depicts their arrival with arms outstretched to the heavens, and a young girl with a rag doll, looking back towards the river she just crossed.
