Michael Ondaatje listed as a 2011 Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist

Michael Ondaatje’s The Cat’s Table (Knopf) is in the running for the 2011 Los Angeles Times Book Prize.

Ondaatje is up against Joseph O’Connor’s Ghost Light (A Frances Coady Book/Farrar, Straus and Giroux), Julie Otsuka’s The Buddha in the Attic (Knopf), Edith Pearlman’s Binocular Vision: New & Selected Stories (Lookout Books/University of North Carolina Wilmington) and Alex Shakar’s Luminarium (SoHo Press).

It’s the 32nd year this prize has been running. Winners will be announced at a public ceremony on April 20, 2012, at the University of Southern California campus in the Bovard Auditorium.

There were five finalists in each of the 10 categories.

Tickets for the ceremony will be available for purchase at 10 a.m. on March 26th, 2012 and additional information will be posted to the L.A. Times.
