A new feline is afoot at Books & Company

The idea of letting the cat choose the bookstore, instead of the bookstore choosing the cat, is becoming quite the tradition for Picton’s Books & Company.

After the death of Miss Lily, the former bookstore prowess with a café in her name, co-owner Alexandra Bake said Miss Lily would not be replaced. A cat would have to come to them.

Last week workmen noted a cat hanging around the new elevator they were installing, taking up residence on a piece of insulation. The cat made her way into the basement through a hole in the wall meant for elevator wiring.

Miss Ella Vader, a sleek black cat, is busy making new friends and settling into her new home.
