TD Summer Reading Club Position — Artist

August 2011 to July 2012
Remuneration: $20,000 for twelve-month term
Toronto Public Library invites applications from artists and illustrators for the 2012 TD Summer Reading Club Artist position. This position is responsible for the design of graphical and illustration elements used for program, promotion and communication components of the 2012 TD Summer Reading Club. These elements will be developed in consultation with and according to creative direction provided by the creative committees. The bulk of the work for this project must be completed in the period from September to December, 2011.
TD Summer Reading Club is an inclusive program that strives to engage all children in the joy of reading during the summer months while championing Canadian writers and illustrators. The program helps connect families with books and build confidence in reading through the delivery of free incentives and fun, accessible library activities.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must reside in Canada
- Professionally published children’s illustrator
- Able to work in collaborative situations and meet deadlines
- Ability to work to scope of project, audience and theme
- Able to apply principles of diversity, equity and inclusiveness and work with diverse communities
- Experience working with multi-media and for multiple platforms (print, web, etc.) an asset
Applications must include:
- Cover letter outlining ability to meet eligibility criteria (1 page)
- Curriculum Vitae or Resume, including a list of publications and completed projects, education and training, recognition and awards
- Sample images from recent work, in .jpg or .pdf format (10 pages)
- Two letters of reference
