Poetry Post: Canada Writes Poetry Prize Deadline May 1, 2023

The Poetry Prize is one of the CBC Literary Prizes, a series of competitions that are put on by Canada Writes. An annual award in which all Canadians can participate, submissions for the prize have been under way since March 1st, 2013 and the competition is still open. Poets have the chance to submit their best original and unpublished poems or poetry collections until May 1st, 2013.

Courtesy of Canada Council for the Arts, the First Prize winner will be awarded $6,000, and his/her poetry will be published in Air Canada?s enRoute magazine and on the Canada Writes website. CBC Radio?s Shelagh Rogers will interview the winner on her show, The Next Chapter, and the First Prize winner will also be awarded a two-week residency at The Banff Centre's Leighton Artists' Colony. The four runners-up will be given $1,000 each and will have their poems published on Canada Writes.
