Share |

The Ontario Poetry Society (TOPS) is an organization that was formed to support members in all aspects of their poetry from writing and performing to publishing. In particular, they host numerous poetry-writing contests including their current The Sparkle and Shine Poetry Contest. The Sparkle and Shine Poetry Contest’s deadline is May 31st, 2013.

With a range of themes to choose from related to sparkle and shine, such as fame, glamour, astronomy and more, this is a unique contest in which poets can choose whichever writing style they prefer. The winner of the first prize will be awarded $50, second prize will earn $35 and third prize will be given $25. There will also be two Honourable Mention Awards of $15 and all prize-winning poems will be published in Verse Afire. The contest judge is Katerina Fretwell.

Please check out The Sparkle and Shine Poetry Contest page for full contest details and submission requirements. Please also head over to The Ontario Poetry Society’s contest page to learn about their other current poetry-writing contests.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Open Book: Ontario will be posting a Poetry Post each week day. Do you have a poetry-related link that you think we should know about? Please send it to [email protected]
