PurdyFest

For the seventh year running, Purdy County LitFests (or PurdyFests) will bring poets and poetry lovers together for a celebration of People's Poetry in Hasting's County over the August long weekend. This year, the festival will centre around a symposium honouring Dorothy Livesay.

This "Livesay Fest" begins with a potluck diner on Friday, August 2nd at ZenRiver Gardens retreat in Malone. Free camping is available.

Saturday's events include the Dorothy Livesay Symposium in the morning, hosted at the Marmora Public Library by Prof. Joyce Wayne and featuring a talk by Ryerson Journalism professor Marsha Barber. Saturday afternoon's event is "Another Dam Poetry Reading" at the Marmora Dam. Singer/musician Morley Ellis will begin the performance, and then the floor is open to other poets to participate in a round robin reading.

Sunday's entertainment includes two readings by members or the Canada-Cuba Literary Alliance hosted by Tai Grove, publisher of Hidden Brook Press and President of the CCLA.
