This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Ontario's illustrious Trillium Book Award/Prix Trillium. To celebrate this silver milestone, Open Book has asked members of the literary community to tell us what they love about their favourite award-winning Trillium title. If you're looking for a recommended read (or re-read), follow these Trillium Testimonials on Open Book: Ontario from now until the winners of the 2012 award competition are announced. Today, poet and Trillium winner Adam Sol tells us why he's chosen Ken Babstock's Airstream Land Yacht, winner of the 2006 Trillium Book Award.

Open Book:

What do you love about this book?

Adam Sol:

The balance between intellectual ambition and emotional intimacy; between technical brilliance and an almost mystical quest for understanding; between the dark and the light. It gives me everything I want from a book of poems.

OB:

When did you first read it?

AS:

Right when it came out. Some of the poems even beforehand, in journals and such.

Adam Sol’s most recent book was Jeremiah, Ohio (Anansi, 2008). He won the Trillium Award for Poetry in 2004 for Crowd of Sounds.
