Write Across Ontario

IFOA Ontario and Open Book: Ontario are presenting a unique writing competition for students.

Write across Ontario is a contest open to High School students in grades nine to twelve across the province. Award-winning authors and IFOA participants Ian Rankin, Joanna Skibsrud and Miriam Toews have each written a story-starter and students are encouraged to select one and use it as the jumping off point for their own unique story.

Each student may submit one entry no longer than 500 words, including the story starter, and it must be submitted by February 1, 2023. Entries will be judged by the Authors at Harbourfront Centre in conjunction with Open Book and one winner will be selected from each grade. Each winner will receive a cash prize of $500 and will have the chance to see their work published in the Open Book Magazine.

Students can submit their work online via [email protected].
