Winners of the 2012 Canadian Children?s Literature Awards Announced

Last night at a gala event at the Ritz-Carlton in Toronto, the Canadian Children?s Book Centre (CCBC) announced the winners of its six major Canadian children?s book awards. At the ceremony, Tim Hockey, President & CEO of TD Canada Trust, announced that the TD Canadian Children?s Literature Award has incresed its cash award from $25,000 to $30,000, making it the largest cash prize for a children?s literature award in Canada.

Norma Fleck Award For Canadian Children?s Non-Fiction ($10,000)
Loon (Groundwood Books) written by Susan Vande Griek and illustrated by Karen Reczuch

Geoffrey Bilson Award For Historical Fiction For Young People ($5,000)
The Hangman in the Mirror (Annick Press) by Kate Cayley

John Spray Mystery Award ($5,000)
Charlie?s Key (Orca Book Publishers) by Rob Mills

Monica Hughes Award for Science Fiction and Fantasy ($5,000)
What Happened to Serenity? (Red Deer Press) by PJ Sarah Collins
