Women Dominate the Stephen Leacock Shortlist

Only one woman has received the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour in the last 20 years, but this year odds are in the ladies’ favour. Four of the five titles on the shortlist are written by women. The 2012 nominees for the best Canadian book of humour are:

The Woefield Poultry Collective by Susan Juby (HarperPerennial)
On the Outside Looking Indian by Rupinder Gill (McClelland & Stewart)
Happiness Economics by Shari Lapena (Brindle & Glass Publishing)
Most of Me by Robyn Michele Levy (D & M Publishers)
The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt (House of Anansi)

The winner by announced April 26 in Orillia.
