Fish Quill Poetry Boat Set to Launch in August

Share |

It's the most unique and all-Canadian reading tour ever undertaken: the Fish Quill Poetry Boat, now in its third year, is set to launch five poets and a musician down the Grand River in canoes for ten days of poetry, performance and adventure. This year's paddling poets are Moez Surani, Kevin MacPherson Eckhoff, Leigh Kotsilidis, Linda Besner and Darryl Whetter, accompanied by Toronto musician Jack Marks and other local poets and artists who will join this fine group for evening events (but won't fit in the canoes). Beginning with a performance at Toronto's TRANZAC Club on August 9th, the Fish Quill Poetry Boat will then head to the Elora Farmer's Market on August 11th for a noon reading and the launch of their canoes.

Their itinerary includes: West Montrose Kissing Bridge on August 12th, West Bridgeport?s Gallery on the Grand on August 13th, Cambridge?s O?Keefe Cottage Cafe & Ice Cream Parlour on August 15th, Paris? Brown Dog Coffee Roastery on August 16th, Brantford?s Station Coffee House & Gallery on August 17th and Campfire Poetry Night at Brantford?s Brant Conservation Area on August 18th. Their final stop, on August 19th, will be at Six Nation?s Chiefswood National Historic Site, the only surviving pre-Confederation Native mansion in Ontario and the birthplace of writer and performer Tekahionwake (E. Pauline Johnson). Visit our Events page for more details about these readings.
