Open Book congratulates illustrator and author Barbara Reid on her appointment to the Order of Ontario. A life-long resident of Toronto, Barbara is being honoured for all she has done to inspire young readers to express their creativity and develop a love of reading.
Her books and illustrations, in particular her signature use of plasticine, have earned her countless young fans as well as international acclaim. Barbara can often be found giving workshops to children in schools and libraries to help encourage early literacy.
