The Ontario Book Publishers Organization (OBPO) announced today the launch of a ten-day promotion of its members? ebooks on Kobo.ca (Kobo). The 1001 Canadian Nights Promotion will help show Kobo?s millions of Canadian followers the breadth of ebooks available from Canadian independent publishers based in Ontario. The promotion runs from January 24 to February 3, 2013.

Readers can cuddle up on cold Canadian winter nights with a great book from Canadian writers both well-known and waiting-to-be-discovered. The promotion features almost 360 titles across eight different categories including: Indie Heroes (fiction), Untethered Youth (children?s and YA), Mystery & Crime, Pop Culture, Literary Culture (poetry, plays and criticism), Facts & Finance (non-fiction and business) and Mixed Media (a range of categories). With such a broad range of genres and so many books readers will be able to browse each category and find numerous books to download.

Sixteen OBPO members are participating including small independent presses, children?s publishers, specialty publishers of poetry and plays, academic presses and general publishers. Again, the breadth of their offerings will be shown through this promotion. OBPO member publishers will be providing support for the promotion through social media. The Twitter hashtag will be #1001CDNnights.

Another feature of the promotion is the opportunity to win either a Kobo Arc or a Kobo Mini. The full promotion and contest details can be found at www.kobobooks.com/canadiannights.

The OBPO was incorporated in 1990 and has a current membership of over 40 Ontario-based publishers. The organization?s chief activities on behalf of its members are to advocate with government and arts organizations, to promote and share professional development opportunities and to facilitate group marketing projects like this one.

This promotion was made possible with funding from the Ontario Media Development
Corporation (OMDC).
