Two Canadian Books Win South Asia Book Awards

Kids of Kabul, by Deborah Ellis

This year two Canadian books have won the South Asia Book Awards for Children?s and Young Adult Literature. The awards are organized by the South Asia National Outreach Consortium and are given for children's and young adult books that have accurately portrayed South Asia or South Asians living in South Asia and other parts of the world.

The 2013 winners are The Rumor (Tundra Books), written by Anushka Ravishankar and illustrated by Kanyika Kini, and Kids of Kabul: Living Bravely Through a Never-ending War (Groundwood Books), by Deborah Ellis.

The winners will receive their prizes in Madison, Wisconsin on October 19th, 2013. Please view the award winners here.
